Course Guide texting a Turnberry Triumph

Posted on Tuesday July 21st, 2009.

As was well publicised, the course guide for Turnberry was made available to people free of charge, simply by texting the word Golf to 82727.

As expected the uptake was significant, and only proved the Directors faith in the new emerging technology of which DMC are the trailblazers, allowing a modern replacement to expensive paper based course guides, getting exactly the same information but to your mobile for a fraction of the price.

Managing Director of DMC and principle driver behind its technology said during a press conference at Turnberry “we always knew having the opportunity of a course guide on your mobile would be a powerful alternative to the more expensive paper products, but now we have developed the technology allowing golfers either at events such as this or at club level to download the same information to their mobile giving the most update information possible. The problem with paper products is although common place, once printed they are in effect out of date, so if the course changes in any way the club pro is stuck with the incorrect course guides. Using our new technology, the club pro has no inventory and therefore no costly upfront invoicing, and if the course changes, we can amend that information in about 60 seconds.

For golf clubs to have the package will involve a small signing fee, and for each unit sold to the general public via the pro shop a unit commission will be invoiced at the end of each month, its as easy as that.
